The Wish Fish

I wrote this 100 word story in response to Alice Key’s 100 word story, The Wish Fish and also in response to Stephen Kellogg’s response story to her story. The links to each of those are here at the top so you can read them both first.

THE WISH FISH

Once again, the third rock sinks to the bottom.

The gray fish surfaces.

“Something new this time, princess?”

Princess pauses and thinks.

“World peace, huh?” she says.

The fish, momentarily shocked and confused, recovers and says “As you wish, Princess.”

At first a crust appears, spinning slowly, then increasingly faster. Then the tomato sauce materializes atop the crust. Finally, the cheese arrives.

Princess eyes the whirled pizza in bewilderment. Tentatively, she reaches out and places a hand on the pizza, which slows to a stop. She sniffs it, then brings it to her mouth.

“I like strawberries better,” she says.
